We're heading for Paris' Pompidou Centre to see "Matisse: Pairs and Series". It is a reassessment of one of the art geniuses of his time (1869-1954). The show is curated by Cécile Debray, who also curated the Stein Collection exhibition at the Grand Palais last year. It has an intimate feel to it, as she has chosen coloured walls that makes visitors feel at home, as though they had been invited in a private salon.

Augustin Trapenard is talking Japanese literature with two books that shed light on the recent disaster. "A Spirit of the Sun", a manga series by Kaiji Kawaguchi. And, "After the Quake" by the famous Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Both are great illustrations of how disaster is constantly used in Japanese culture, even as metaphor.

He has chosen two books that will be showcased in the salon: "We, The Drowned" a monumental seafaring tale by Danish writer Carsten Jensen and "The Glitter Scene" fantastic tale by the Finnish author Monika Fagerholm.
