When last year's Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to a 32-year-old Yemeni mother-of-three named Tawakkol Karman, few were more surprised than the recipient herself. Today, four months after her Nobel Prize, Karman is an internationally sought-after speaker.

THE INTERVIEW

When she got the news, Karman said she was unaware she had even been nominated for one of the world's highest honours. Yet years before the Arab Spring swept across her region, Karman had been holding weekly demonstrations calling upon her country's ruler, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to allow greater freedom and human rights.
