Chelsea striker Didier Drogba gave the Blues a vital first leg advantage in their Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona on Wednesday. Drogba’s strike means his side will take a slender lead to the Nou Camp for the return leg next Tuesday.

AFP - Didier Drogba hit a first-half, injury-time winner as Chelsea edged defending champions Barcelona 1-0 in their Champions League semi-final first-leg clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The goal came when Frank Lampard robbed Barca superstar Lionel Messi of possession in midfield and found Ramires wide on the left.

The Brazilian then cut the ball back to Drogba to fire past Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes. It was Drogba's 38th career Champions League goal.

The second leg of the tie takes place at Barcelona's Camp Nou next Tuesday with the winners to face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final.
