Presidential Election: Can Sarkozy woo the far-right?

Nicolas Sarkozy versus François Hollande. The stage is set for round two of the French presidential election. But it has been upset by the record performance of the far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen, who outperformed her father's shock result back in 2002.

President Hollande: is he too soft?

François Hollande knew it would be hard. But the new Socialist president probably did not imagine it would be this hard when he was elected back in May. And yet, the bad news keeps piling up, with unemployment hitting the 3-million mark and Hollande's polling numbers down. The French are growing impatient with the new administration and wonder whether Hollande is up to the job. Is he too soft or can he rise to the challenge?

Budgets cuts and higher taxes: the end of the Socialist honeymoon?

The French saw it coming, and now they know the pill will be bitter to swallow. Socialist PM Jean-Marc Ayrault delivered his keynote address to Parliament this week, warning that France's ills are serious, and that the road to recovery will be a long and tortuous one. Meanwhile, on the other side of the political aisle, the battle is on to take the helm of the conservative UMP party.

French Economy : a time bomb for Hollande?

Pressure from Germany is affecting the new French president's flexibility on public finances. But on the domestic economy, he doesn't seem to have much wriggle room either. The national institute for economic and statistical studies published a sobering forecast on Tuesday evening. French GDP is set to grow just 0.4% this year. That's less than what Mister Hollande banked on for his budget. And consumer spending power could sink to 1986 levels.

Socialist Grand Slam : A blank check for Hollande?

On the menu today, the socialists are the new bosses of French politics. After winning municipal, local, regional, European and presidential elections, they now control both chambers of parliament after erning a clear-cut victory in last Sunday's legislative poll. A triumph of course but also a major reponsibility because the buck stops with president Hollande. Also on the menu, the conservatives find themselves in the opposition for the first time in a decade.

french Election

With refernce to Mr. Sarkozi did for Europe & France in general, i would like to says to French People's that any candidate has words of better doing, however i can say Mr. Sarkozy deserved a second term of Presidency.
He did some mistakes in the begining of his Presidency which is for me can be tolorated when we look at on how he managed the the european Presidency and the Economic crisis as well the recent torrosit issues in France just a weeks before the election. Many other points in International affaires i really hope French People's should back him for this second round to let him know that he did some mistakse, however their want to be more lister and cooperative.

Mr. Sarkozy i wish you a good luck for this coming Sunday.
