ISTITUTO MARANGONI

What did you learn in Fashion school?

It’s springtime and for students the end of the school year partying nears. But before the celebrations can begin we have to ask...just what did you learn in school? At leading Italian fashion school Instituto Marangoni founded in 1935, the answer is Prêt-à-Porter.
Clothing...It starts out as a sketch that must meet technical requirements. Only after the student has understood the designing process on paper can they move on to work with silhouettes and material.
It’s a love for the look of fashion that attracts many students in the first place. And it’s the teacher’s job to go deeper, giving highly technical training, but still allowing the students’ passion for the craft to flourish.
Having the technique and knowing how to use it...there’s more to the industry then that. Also on the school’s curriculum... getting a feel for the workplace environment.
Like other leading fashion institutes, the Milan based Marangoni has gone international, opening branches in both London and Paris. The school has even opened a training centre in Shanghai. It’s less technical program aims to expose european culture to Chinese students.
Whether they become darlings of the fashion industry or masters of luxury marketing, these students are ready to make their mark. Finding inspiration in their surroundings and in their dreams.
