With deadly gun battles between the Sunni majority and Alawite factions breaking out frequently in recent weeks, northern Lebanon increasingly resembles parts of Syria. The clashes have heightened long-standing fears that Lebanon could be drawn into the Syrian crisis, as hostility between groups opposing the Syrian government and allies of Bashar al-Assad boils over.
