Syria: The Iran factor

Iran’s support for the Assad regime goes well beyond loyalty to a traditional ally. François Picard’s panel looks at the spillover effect of the power play over Tehran’s nuclear program and argues over whether to send its leaders an invitation to Syria negotiations.

Europe: austerity anger management

Is there a disconnect between Europe's leaders who convene Thursday for a summit...and their citizens who are protesting in the streets? Are we headed for a winter of discontent? How tight should belt-tightening go?

Europe's Muslim minority is in the spotlight once again and uncomfortable questions are being asked: integration, extremism and islamophobia are terms which elicit strong reactions from all sides of the political divide.

Syria: The Iran factor

It' no secret that France 24 is tasked with promoting France's policies for viewers abroad. However, last night's "debate" was nothing short of risible: a pro-MKO Iranian, an Israeli and a pro-Israeli rightwing American. The fourth person, and the only one who spoke without resorting to propagandist terminology, was the lone Syrian speaker and a representative of the Syrian opposition. Where were the views of those who agree with Kofi Annan, Iran, Russia, China?

The editors of France 24 should look up the meaning of "debate" before mis-labeling their programs.
