Former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali says that Kofi Annan put his own successor, Ban Ki-moon, in a difficult position by accepting the post of special envoy to Syria. Boutros-Ghali argues that, despite the failure of Annan's mission, there is no alternative to continuing the search for a ceasefire in Syria.
