Classic songs revived or revisited

The lyricist Hal David, and the composer Burt Bacharach, penned some of the 20th century’s most beloved songs. David's death last weekend is a chance to look back at his legacy. Also, The Kinks have put out a box set covering 30 years (1964–1994) of TV and radio shows taped at the BBC. Finally, Fleetwood Mac is honoured in a tribute album from today’s hottest artists.

Pompidou showcases Mondrian

Monday is art exhibition day with our art correspondent Sean Rose. Today, we’re heading for the Pompidou Centre in Paris where the big winter exhibition has just opened: "Mondrian/De Stijl". It is an exhibition which traces the adventure of the Dutch avant-garde movement, De Stijl (literarily “The Style”) and the career of one of three pioneers of abstract art: Piet Mondrian, with Kandinsky and Malevich.
