Fashion designer Julien Fournie is trying to revolutionise the trade with the help of new 3D technology developed by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault.

As top fashion houses recycle their staples by talking about "heritage" and "DNA" and other brands rely on celebrity faces to create that much sought-after "buzz", it’s rare to find designers daring enough to create truly new clothing. So, can what’s coming off the catwalks still be cutting edge?

Fashion designer Julien Fournié is trying to revolutionise the trade with the help of new 3D technology developed by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault. The ability to virtually test the limits of material is a key step in the creation of new silhouettes. As for the materials, the challenge is to combine perforated neoprene rubber with a classic silk organza on top of a layer of Bakelite which is a type of plastic.

Julien Fournié is a pioneer, but is the development of his industrial ready-to-wear collection really possible? Will investors let him bring his vision to fruition? Today, to dream is to question. It’s the customers who hold the answer.
