Fears of further sectarian violence, as political turmoil rocks Iraq

We take a look at the international papers, where insurgency in Iraq has swelled amid political turmoil. The UK papers are hungry for details on the unsolved murder case in Annecy, and London’s paralympic games close to a fanfare of fireworks .

The New York Times reported on the sentencing of Iraqi vice president Tariq al Hashemi, with a focus on the sectarian tensions simmiering in Iraq.

UK headlines were dominated by the Annecy shooting : the Telegraph revealed that the brother of murdered Said al Hilli was being questioned by British police. The Guardian focused on the mystery surrounding the case, as UK and French police explore all possible leads.
