The two leaders are meeting for business deals, which annoys human rights activists. And human rights even seems to have been put aside deliberately, as no joint press conference is scheduled.

There's no other way to call it: Barack Obama has suffered the political equivalent of a bloody nose. Tonight, he’s coming to terms with the biggest political upset of his career. In their biggest congressional victory in 62 years, Republicans have won control of the House of Representatives, and made gains in the Senate as well. There's nothing left for the president to do but to hold out the olive branch.
