The case of Julius Malema

Julius Malema, the former head of South Africa’s ANC Youth League, has appeared in court on charges of money laundering. Malema has denounced the charge, and was later released on bail. For his supporters, the charges are part of a campaign to destabilise Malema, who has recently resurfaced championing the cause of miners engaged in wildcat strikes in the country’s lucrative gold and platinum mines.
