Hollande and the "Karcher moment" that wasn't

Last night's later edition of Media Watch: François Hollande is accused of copying Nicolas Sarkozy when he infamously reassured a distraught suburban resident that he'd clear her neigbourhood of trouble-making "scum". Hollande was visiting the Paris suburb of Echirolles after a fatal double shooting when a resident asked for his reaction. Was this an attempt to use Sarkozy-style communications or not?

MEDIAWATCH FRANCE, Wed. 25/1/2012: To quote or not to misquote! That is the question François Hollande didn't ask himself at last Sunday's rally. The Socialist leader wooed many with an eloquent delivery, at one point referring to a Shakespeare quote...except experts have determined that the great English playwright never penned any such words!

MEDIAWATCH FRANCE, Tues. 24/1/2012: "Le changement, c'est maintenant!" accompanied by a funky little arm movement. Is this the latest dance craze or the naffest political campaign imaginable? Or indeed a wily bid to get François Hollande into the subconscious of every French voter? Also, Hervé Morin claims he witnessed the Normandy Landings, despite being born in 1961.

MEDIAWATCH FRANCE, Mon. 23/1/2012: 'Le Huffington Post' touched down in French cyberspace today with none other than Mrs. DSK as its Managing Editor. Anne Sinclair was one of France's top current affairs journalists in the 1980s and 1990s, hosting a show called "7sur7" on the TF1 network. Also, Anonymous targets l'Express' website and Ségolène Royal is not impressed with François Hollande's first big rally ahead of the Presidential election.

MEDIAWATCH: In less than the US legislature geared up to impose far-reaching anti-piracy legislation on the web which was quickly met with a 24-hour internet "blackout" supported by big-name sites like Wikipedia and to top it all off one of the top file-sharing websites in the world, MegaUpload, was shut down. In response, online "hacktivists" Anonymous targeted key government websites around the world. Is this the beginning of "World War Web"?
