The first edition of Black Fashion Week was held in Paris, rue Cambon, just steps away from the house of Chanel. Organized by Senegalese fashion designer Adama Ndiaye, the event showcased the cultural richness of the black diaspora so as to familiarize the French press with ‘black fashion’ that’s not only African. But to no avail, the press didn’t take the time to make it to the event. Adama produced Black Fashion Week in Prague, the Cheque Republic and in Bahia in Brazil.
