Karadzic defence team takes centre stage in The Hague
Arrested in July 2008 after 13 years on the run, Radovan Karadzic has been fighting a legal battle against accusations of genocide and crimes against humanity for the Srebrenica massacre, the Siege of Sarajevo and ethnic cleansing in Bosnia. Since his trial began at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in October 2009, more than 300 witnesses have been called on to testify. On October 16th, the former Bosnian Serb political leader launched his counter-attack.
