Paris’ Contemporary Art Fair is opening today. It is the 39th edition this year and it is housed by the Grand Palais with its beautiful glass and steel dome. The French capital, as every year in this period, is teeming with artistic events: openings of private galleries, launching of art magazines and talks with artists and curators.

'Cloud Atlas': Sometimes thrilling, sometimes silly, always interesting

"Cloud Atlas" was supposed to be an unadaptable book but three skilled filmmakers - Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski & Tom Tykwer - decided to film it anyway. Meanwhile, "Oz the Great and Powerful" has some nice visual interludes but the story itself is undistinguished. Finally, March 22-31st marks the 35th edition of the International Women's Film Festival in the Paris suburb of Creteil.

Heading for Nantes’ pluridisciplinary cultural venue, Le Lieu unique, which champions the idea of abolishing boundaries between different disciplines : drama, dance and the visual arts. "Le Grand Mess" is an exhibition of the work of 29 year-old Théo Mercier’s, a promising young French artist who has laready had a first solo show in New York at age 25. his work was shown last year during the cutural event in Lille "Lille Fantastic".
