Hurricane Sandy makes news in the US - but what about Haiti?

There's been a lot said about Hurricane Sandy in the US this week but not so much about the other countries affected by the same superstorm. Before making landfall on America's East Coast, Sandy hit Haiti - which is still struggling to recover from the massive earthquake that hit almost three years ago. Just as in the US, the authorities have declared a state of emergency, and are asking for aid to help them help the population.

"A much needed electric shock". That's how one centre-right lawmaker describes a bill that's due to be discussed in the French Parliament on January the 20th. It aims to bring more women to French board rooms, and to iron out inequalities in the top echelons of power. Under the draft bill, companies listed on the Paris stock exchange would have to make sure at least 40 percent of their board members are women by the year 2016.
