Moody's bruise with Triple A hit

France loses its Triple A for a second time. After Standard & Poor's cut France's credit rating back in January, Moody's has now done the same. It's a major concern for the French press, featuring on just about every front page. It's not the only story though - Libération looks at Hollande's latest statements on same-sex marriage. That's the focus for this look at the French press this Wednesday 21st November, 2012.

Le Monde headlines on the Moody’s downgrade. France has lost its Triple A for a second time. Standard and Poor’s already knocked it down a notch in January.

Le Parisien-Aujourd’hui-en-France says France needs to reassure the credit ratings agencies by applying measures that will boost French competitiveness and make the labour market more flexible.

The Catholic daily La Croix agrees with those two approaches.

The business daily Les Echos warns that without economic reforms, France faces being downgraded further.

Le Figaro says the task now for the Socialist President François Hollande is to act fast.

And Libération looks at proposed legislation that could allow same-sex marriage after Hollande said French mayors could decide - as a matter of conscience - whether or not to perform civil ceremonies for gay couples.
