Is the French steel industry going into meltdown?

French steel production has slumped over the last 40 years. The only plant still in operation is in the eastern town of Florange. But the mill's owner, steel giant ArcelorMittal, has said it wants to close Florange. The French government has stepped in and reached a deal with ArcelorMittal that should save the threatened jobs. But will the agreement go the same way as a similar - doomed - deal in neighbouring Gandrange three years ago?
