Bored of the Rings? Try a bear and a mouse instead
The first lengthy installment in Peter Jackson's screen trilogy "The Hobbit" will be of middling interest to viewers not already taken with Middle Earth. Our film critic Lisa Nesselson suggests two animated features instead.
In the watercolour-tinged "Ernest and Celestine," a grouchy bear (voiced by Lambert Wilson) and a plucky mouse confront life's obstacles together. And in "Cruclic - The Path to Beyond", crafty animation portrays the true story of a Romanian man wrongly imprisoned in Poland - an ordeal that could have been plotted by Kafka himself.
