Dr. Robot: New heights in hi-tech health

From robotic surgeons to bionic limbs or intelligent mannequins, machines of the future are shaping the medicine of today. Should we brace ourselves for a world where health care is completely automated? This week we take a look at new heights in hi-tech health.

We start in the United States, where a team of researchers have helped teach a quadriplegic woman how to manipulate a bionic arm using only her thoughts.

Next, we head to Strasbourg in the east of France to oversee a robotic surgeon in action. Its every move is guided by a real-life doctor via remote control.

Finally, we explore how digital technology is transforming the way we teach and communicate. Medical schools in France are embracing physical and virtual simulation to limit the number of serious but avoidable errors in hospitals and clinics each year.
