Art in the act !
Showing performance art is challenging if not a contradiction in terms, performance art is non-object-made art : it is not a thing but a movement, a mood, an energy, some sort of flux. It is both live and ephemeral. The recently inaugurated building designed by Odile Decq, Frac Bretagne (Regional Contemporary Art Fund) in Rennes graces Spanish-born artist Esther Ferrer.
Films and photographs document her many actions in the public space, e.g. a performance consisting of stopping cars by sitting in the middle thirteen zebra crossings in Madrid.
In Frac Lorraine, in Metz, films show duet Marie Cool and Fabio Balducci using every day objects to choreograph slow simple gestures. These “unstable sculptures with body” are being performed by doppelgängers in Metz’s neighbouring art centre Synagogue de Delme.
