Tribal leaders, businessmen clean up in Jordan's parliamentary elections
Tribal leaders, pro-regime loyalists and independent businessmen swept Jordan's parliamentary election after it was shunned by Islamists. Out of the 150 seats available in the Parliament, only 27 can be taken by candidates belonging to political parties. Such a small number makes it impossible for any opposition figures to win a majority and demand reform.
