Fighting to adopt a Russian child

One month ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law banning the adoption of Russian children by American families. The move came in response to US sanctions against Russian officials. The controversy over the law refuses to die down. Detractors accuse the Kremlin of using Russian orphans as pawns in a game of politics with Washington and abandoning the 110,000 children currently in Russian orphanages.
