A California court has ordered it to release thousands of pages of confidential files, revealing galling details of high-ranking clerics shielding priests from prosecution over sex crimes. The files echo recurring themes that have emerged over the past decade in dioceses nationwide, where church leaders moved problem priests between parishes and failed to notify authorities.
