Libération on Hollande: 'So far, so bad'

French papers this Friday are critical of President François Hollande's performance in his Thursday evening prime-time TV interview. He gets panned in the left-wing paper Libération for being an 'optimist addict' and in the right-wing Le Figaro for insisting on a new 75 percent tax band for those earning over a million euros. One paper, though, does say there are five reasons to be cheerful.

The articles in today’s review of the French press:

Libération: 'Jusqu'ici tout va mal' ('So far, so bad')

Libération editorial: 'Optimiste'

Libération: 'Un président trop normal pour être rassurant' ('The President is too normal to be reassuring')

Le Figaro editorial 'Il n'a pas osé' ('He didn't dare')

Le Parisien-Aujourd'hui-en-France: 'Comment l'avez vous trouvez?' ('What do you think of his performance?')

Rue 89: 'Cinq raisons de rester optimiste après avoir entendu Hollande' ('Five reasons for remaining optimistic after watching Hollande's prime-time TV appearance')
