The Texan Conductor Making Waves in Europe

Today’s guest, John Axelrod, is probably the only conductor working today who was previously a rock'n'roll talent scout for a record company discovering the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, and the head of a wine firm. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras. His most recent appointment is Chief Conductor of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, here in France.

Also on the show: the story of opera singer Maria Callas hits the Paris stage, plus we remember Pablo Picasso on the 40th anniversary of his death.
