Claude Guéant in the firing line for 'amateur' art deals

Former Interior Minister Claude Guéant is back in the headlines: he’s accused of laundering money for Nicolas Sarkozy’s presidential campaign. Le Figaro has an interview from the man who escaped the Taliban - the former French hostage tells his story. And Uruguayan scientists develop a genetically modified breed of sheep that glows in the dark.

Libération delves into the rumours surrounding suspicious payments into Claude Guéant’s bank account, while Le Parisien focuses on the cash envelopes he’s said to have received as part of his salary.

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is in a tricky position, as his son is questioned over his lavish apartment. Le Parisien points out that despite his 7 million euro pied-à-terre, Thomas Fabius doesn’t seem to pay any income tax.

Le Figaro has an exclusive interview with Pierre Borghi, the French aid worker who managed to escape the Taliban after being held captive for four months.

And the sheep that glow in the dark: Uruguayan scientists push the boundaries of genetically modified livestock.
