France were paired with Ukraine in Monday’s draw for the World Cup qualifying playoffs in Europe, while Portugal will take on Sweden, Iceland will play Croatia and Greece will face Romania for a right to compete in next year’s tournament in Brazil.

France have been drawn against Ukraine in their playoff for a place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The tie is one of four playoffs among European teams vying for the right to take part in the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal were paired against Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Sweden in Monday’s draw, minnows Iceland will need to overcome Croatia if they are to compete in their first World Cup, while Greece will take on Romania.

The two-legged ties are scheduled to take place on November 15 and 19, with Ukraine, Portugal, Iceland and Greece playing at home in the first legs.

The four winners will complete Europe's 13 entries in the 32-team World Cup draw on December 6 in Salvador, Brazil.
