A Turkish woman identified only as Sevda (right) revealed the identity of her boyfriend's alleged murderer during a live morning TV chat show hosted by Müge Anlı (left), prompting police to detain the man.

A Turkish woman who was appearing on a morning chat show revealed the identity of her boyfriend's alleged murderer during a live broadcast, prompting police to detain the man at the Istanbul TV studio.

The woman – who was identified only by her first name, Sevda – was brought onto the “Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert” show to discuss the murder of her boyfriend, Medet, who was found dead on an Istanbul shore.

Sevda said Hasan, with whom she had had an affair, killed Medet. Hasan had also tried to forbid her from seeing Medet, she said.

Sevda told the presenter, Müge Anlı, during a commercial break that she had information to share. The producers of the show then called the police, who took Hasan out of the studio as a security measure before she shared the information live on air.
