Police launched a city-wide manhunt Monday for a gunman suspected of two shootings in the French capital, including at the left-leaning Libération daily and at the country’s financial hub. Follow events as they happened on FRANCE 24’s blog below.

  • On Monday morning, an assailant opened fire at the central Paris office of left-wing daily newspaper ‘Liberation’. A photographer was seriously injured.
  • Around one hour later, shots were fired at the headquarters of the Societé Générale bank in the financial district of La Defense west of Paris. A gunman briefly held a man hostage before fleeing the area.
