Leo G. Michel, Institute for National Strategic Studies

Is the age of US dominance truly over? After years of wars, the US have now withdrawn from Iraq and pulled out a large number of troops from Afghanistan. Moreover, Barack Obama made no secret about the fact he was reluctant to get too deeply involved in the Libyan and the Syrian crises, shying away from bombing Damascus at the eleventh hour.

Leo G. Michel tells us why he believes that Washington, after two expensive wars that cost thousands of lives, has not so much become isolationist but has rather entered a new period of strategic prudence.
