Bangui's mayor takes over as Central African leader

The EU votes to send hundreds of troops to Central African Republic to back up French and African forces already there trying to stem the violence. This as the crisis-torn country’s new leader pledges consensus. Also, South Sudan's army claims the upper hand in the battle for the key oil town of Malakal, but insurgents say otherwise. And the opposition in Burkina Faso hails the weekend's anti-government protests as proof of its growing popularity.
