Thousands of Senegalese women, particularly those in rural areas, are benefitting from legal advice and assistance they would otherwise never have access to thanks to a volunteer programme set up by the country’s lawyers.

Free legal clinics and hotlines run by the Association of Senegalese Lawyers are providing women with crucial advice on matters from rape and domestic violence to land ownership.

In celebration of International Women’s Day this Saturday, FRANCE 24 met some of the lawyers involved with the scheme as well as the women they are helping.
