Presidential candidate and boxer-turned-politician Vitaly Klitschko travelled to eastern Ukraine on Sunday in what FRANCE 24's Gulliver Cragg described as a bid to win over voters wary of nationalists from Kiev.

Speaking at a rally in the eastern city of Donetsk, which is home to many Russian speakers, Klitschko said Ukraine should not be allowed to split apart.

“The main task is to preserve the stability and independence of our country,” he said.
