Goran Bregovic on bringing his unique take on Balkan music to the world

Today's guest is one of the biggest stars of the Balkans. From making music for Serbian director Emir Kusturica’s movies to composing for Iggy Pop, his unique mix of gypsy brass band beats and orchestral sounds, tinged with a rock accent, have brought him international acclaim.

He talks to Jade Barker and France 24 music critic Mariam Saab about how he started off playing in strip clubs at 17 years old, what it was like collaborating with Iggy Pop and why he’s attracted to gypsy music.

Also on the show: Mariam takes us through this week’s music news, from a hypnotic release from The Black Keys, to the political lyrics of The Kaiser Chief’s new album and Wu Tang Clan's bid to put music into museums.
