Guy Verhofstadt, candidate for Head of the European Commission, Liberals and Democrats

In the run-up to the European elections, we bring you a series of interviews with the top candidates for the EU elections. Guy Verhofstadt has been nominated by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats to campaign for his party across Europe.

Guy Verhofstadt is the former Prime Minister of Belgium. He is also a federalist, and has been calling for the creation of a United States of Europe, warning EU member states they must agree to deepen political and economic integration or risk being marginalised in a globalised world.
