Ayad Allawi, Former Iraqi Prime minister

Iraqis head to the polls on Wednesday for the first general election since US troops left the country. But the level of sectarian violence has not been this high since the civil war of 2006. Amid the turmoil, Shiite Prime minister Nouri al-Maliki is tipped to win a third term.
