LeBron James tallied 35 points and had 10 rebounds as the Miami Heat bounced back with a vengeance by beating the San Antonio Spurs 98-96 in game two of the NBA finals.

Chris Bosh finished with 18 points and Rashard Lewis and Dwyane Wade each scored 14 points on Sunday for the Heat who evened the series at 1-1.

The series shifts to Miami for game three on Tuesday.

James shot 14-of-22 from the field in 38 minutes of playing time and was the biggest factor when the game was on the line in the fourth.

It is a role James has played consistently throughout his career but one he was prevented from performing in a 110-95 loss in game one after the air conditioning system at the AT and T Center failed.

The air conditioner was back on and keeping things cool Sunday night unlike game one when a broken cooling system affected the outcome. The Heat were ahead by seven in the fourth about the same time James started cramping up as the Spurs went on win.

Temperatures in the arena on Sunday night hovered around 21 degrees Celsius (70 Fahrenheit), compared to 30-plus on Thursday.

Tim Duncan paced the Spurs attack with 18 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Duncan recorded the 157th career playoff double double to tie him for the most all-time with Magic Johnson. Duncan has scored in double figures in 222 of his 231 career playoff games.
