Ed Husain, Author of 'The Islamist'

The Islamic State organisation threatens to redraw the borders of the Middle East and impose a brutal and extreme version of Islam on the lands that it conquers. What needs to be done to combat the power of Islamic extremism?

Robert Parsons puts the question to Ed Husain. He is a senior fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, and a senior advisor at the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. He is also the author of "The Islamist", which describes his own early attraction to fundamentalism and how and why he later turned against it.
