American R&B and rap stars Beyoncé and Jay-Z are closing their colossal and highly lucrative “On the Run” tour with two shows in France’s biggest concert venue.
The Stade de France north of Paris will host the final tour dates on Friday and Saturday, amid rumors the musical power-couple could be splitting up after a 12-year relationship.
The duo, who have been together since 2002 and tied the knot in 2008, have been performing to huge crowds in North America throughout the summer.
Named after one of the songs in which the two celebrities play together, the “On the Run” tour kicked-off in Miami in June, making calls in 16 cities in the United States and Canada.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are bringing the three-hour, 40-song, musical extravaganza across the Atlantic for a last dance.
Concert promoters announced this week that the two shows in the French capital would likely be sold out. All of the 77,000 tickets for Saturday’s show had already been snatched up by fans, and only 2,000 tickets were left for Friday.
Both Jay-Z and Beyoncé held separate sold-out concerts in the Bercy sports arena in Paris last year.
Despite rumors of an impending breakup and mixed reviews, the “On the Run” tour has reportedly been a lucrative venture for the couple, reeling in over 77 million euros, according to concert promoter Live Nation.
