A Turning Point for France? Socialist Government Pushes Belt-Tightening (part 2)

France's government is facing some hard choices that test both its socialist credentials and the country's reputation as a good place to do business. This afternoon at the National Assembly, new Prime minister Manuel Valls has been rallying all the votes he can get among left-wing backbenchers of his own camp for his plan to lop 50 billion euros off the deficit. Is this a turning point for French socialism, and for France?
