Transgender children: Embracing the transition process

A generation ago, only adults would go through the daunting, but often liberating, process of changing their gender. Today, a growing number of children and adolescents undergo such transitions thanks to new medical options that can be implemented at a younger age. Our correspondents in California bring you along on an intimate journey where we witness some of the struggles and dilemmas that transgender children face together with their families.
