AIDS research projects are getting a multimillion-euro boost thanks to some of the celebrities at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Famous faces including Leonardo DiCaprio, Uma Thurman and Katy Perry were among the hundreds of well-known names who helped raise over 25 million euros at a gala by American charitable foundation amfAR on Thursday night.

The tickets alone cost more than 11,000 euros each.

Some participants even went home with their own Damien Hirst artwork, million-dollar designer wardrobe items and other lots sold at the event's charity auction.

Catherine Nicholson and Aurore Dupuis joined the red carpet fray to find out what makes this party the hottest ticket of the Cannes Film Festival.
