Obama in Vietnam: Just how close can Washington and Hanoi become? (part 1)

Four decades after the fall of Saigon, has Vietnam become Washington's new ally in Asia? The US president announced the end of an arms embargo in place since the end of the Vietnam War and talked up the TPP which both sides strongly favour. Both deals have implications for Hanoi's northern neighbor: Beijing is not a signatory of the TPP and has growing territorial disputes with Vietnam in the resources-rich South China Sea. Just how far will the US go in backing Vietnam?
