Strikes and power: French unions take on government over labour laws

French workers and unions often spark headlines for their frequent strikes. In the past few months, there has been a series of walkouts over a government plan to reform labour laws. One of France's biggest unions, the CGT, has led the protests against a proposal to make it easier for firms to fire workers during a downturn. Who's winning the stand-off? Do strikes equal power in France?
