Court ruling expected on Gabon's contested election results

In tonight's edition: Gabon awaits a court ruling on last month’s contested presidential election results, Nigeria investigates oil fraud and Senegal works on vaccinations.

In Gabon, people are waiting for the country’s Constitutional Court to announce its decision regarding last month's presidential vote. Ali Bongo was declared the winner by just 6,000 votes, and his rival, Jean Ping, contests that outcome. Ping went to court over the results of the Haut-Ogooué province, Bongo's home region, demanding a recount of ballots in each polling station there. Ping has said he does not trust the Constitutional Court, as its president has two children with Bongo.

Meanwhile, further allegations have surfaced concerning oil fraud under Nigeria's previous administration. It's believed that some US$17 billion worth of oil was stolen between 2011 and 2014. The matter was discussed in parliament on Thursday.
