A frenzy of fear, gore and special effects: France’s Gérardmer festival

Deep in the east of France, one film meet-up features a smattering of teenage cannibals and a zombie apocalypse: the Gérardmer International Sci-Fi festival is not for the faint-hearted. France 24's reporters went to check it out.

Also, we meet the Syrian actor who changed his name and his country to forge a career in Hollywood: Jay Abdo is the actor some critics are calling the "Syrian Kevin Spacey".

After a critically-acclaimed career spanning six decades, French actress Emmanuelle Riva has died aged 89; she was the oldest actress to be nominated for an Academy award for her performance in "Amour" in 2013.

And director Jim Jarmusch unleashes his inner fanboy, as he takes a look at punk-rock band Iggy and The Stooges in a new documentary, "Gimme Danger".
