TALKING EUROPE

Politicians, activists and researchers debate the issues facing the EU and a 'guest of the week' offers their insight in a long-format interview that gets to the heart of the matter. Saturday at 12.10 pm.

Latest update : 2017-04-10

Robots: The workers of tomorrow?

The European Parliament is taking an interest in robots. The workers of the future are already among us and MEPs want to legislate on them as soon as possible. Some of the questions that need to be answered include: What is the legal personality of a robot? And in the event of an accident or another type of failure, who is responsible; the manufacturer, the programmer, the user or the robot itself?

Members of the European Parliament also advocate the introduction of a so-called robot tax to mitigate the social consequences of an increased reliance on robots.

Presented by Eve Irvine.

Produced by Isabelle Romero and Sadia Mandjo.
